The Chipmunks' mother, Vinny, who had spent her whole life in the forest, visits the Seville House. Unfamiliar to the modern way of life, she introduces her boys and Dave to what she knows. In doing so, she opens all the doors and windows to let the cold, fresh air into the house, makes them "dinner," has them sleep in the tree outside in the pouring rain, and invites her forest friends to meet the family. Dave gets frustrated with all the animals in the house but is calmed by the Chipmunks. Vinny lets the boys (and all the other animals) sleep in the house the following night and sings them a lullaby.
The next morning, Dave introduces Vinny to the refrigerator, toaster, and microwave. In an attempt to become familiar with these strange devices, Vinny adds acorns to the toaster and puts leaves in the microwave, all to Dave's dismay.
Later, when the Chipmunks are preparing to perform at a party, Vinny gives the Chipmunks some sheet music she wrote for them to play. The music doesn't turn out great and, as a result, leads to Dave and Vinny getting into an argument. That night, Vinny and Dave separately overhear the Chipmunks talking about the difficulty of the two becoming more alike in the way they live.
The next day, Vinny works at becoming more modern while Dave works at becoming more outdoorsy. To do so, Vinny decides to go shopping. The Chipmunks are shocked when she exits the store wearing very modern clothing. She also decides to go to the salon to get her hair and nails cleaned up. Meanwhile, Dave is at home attempting to start a fire using only sticks. Unable to do so, he tries using a match and then a lighter with no success.
When Vinny and Dave meet again, the Chipmunks pull up in a new car and a new fridge is being delivered. While Vinny and Dave get into another argument, the backyard catches fire and Theodore rushes to save one the animals from a tree. Together, the Chipmunks, Dave, and the other animals must rush to put the fire out to save them.
- This episode marks the second appearance of Vinny.
