A NEW Visual Editor is finally here! As promised, Wikia's newest release of a visual editor has been enabled on all Main pages of Munkapedia. As previously stated, this release seeks to aid users of this wiki in the transition to the eventual release of the new default editing experience on all wikis. The new editor strives to make editing much easier for those just getting started in editing on Wikia while retaining Source Mode for veteran editors who choose not to use the new release. To use the new editor, simply click on the edit button as done in the past. When you do, a new screen will appear and the article will display not too much differently than before. Some benefits of the editor include seeing how images interact with the text and other elements on the page and a spell checker. Specifics on how to use the new editor can be found on w:c:community:Help:VisualEditor (unfortunately the new editor is not available for anyone using Internet Explorer at this time). If you would like to take a break from the editor at any time, you can still edit using the classic editor by hovering over the arrow next to the edit button and clicking on the "Classic editor" button. This will bring up the old visual editor. Even though this option is currently listed, it's likely that this choice will not be available in the future so editors are encouraged to become familiar with the new version if not familiar with Source mode.
Source mode can still be used with either editor and can also be used by bypassing the new editor through your preferences by making sure the "Enable visual editing" check box is unchecked. Note that this will disable both visual editors and allow for editing in Source Mode only.
Even though this editor is brand new, Munkapedia plans on retaining this feature up and beyond its destined release to the entire Wikia community.
