I have a proposition for a new category of pages about the vehicles the characters have used over the history of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Going into specifics, if some of these are based on or are real cars, it could be a good idea to add the make and model. Here's what I had in mind so far, but i'm open to more suggestions.
Dave's car: I was thinking this could be made somewhat like the Character pages where it explains all the different cars that Dave has owned throughout the various continuities. This includes his "classic" car from the 80's series and the ALVINNN series, his old convertible red sports car from the first live-action movie, and his black Ford Mustang from Road Chip.
Alvin's Hot Rod: The open wheel sports car he has in the ALVINNN series. It was recently made into the Sock Launchin Hot Rod in the Fisher price toyline.
X Class-247: The toy car first seen in Safety Third and reappears in Lights, Camera, Uh Oh. Made into the Super Skatin Sports Car in the Fisher Price toyline
The Munkmobile: Simon's driving and flying super hero vehicle from Munk Man and reappears in The Temp, refered to as a drone.
I believe each of these has had enough screen time and significance to be worthy of their own pages. I'm trying to decide whether or not the hot air balloons from The Chipmunk Adventure would count as vehicles.
As I've said the idea is interesting and has potential, but my main concern before going forward is whether or not there's enough factual material that could be provided on these pages. I don't want to see any speculator information included or just more stub pages (I don't see how to really add a page of any real substance about the hot air balloons).
Basically what I'm getting at is what would be included in these pages? Lay out how you would see one of these articles.

Well maybe I should have gone into more detail with my initial post, so I see your point. Because speculation is a big concern, I wasn't planning on saying things like "What are they powered by?". Sticking to pure fact and what we have seen in the show, it could be set out in a similar way to Simon's Hidden Areas, explaining the instances of how they were used in the episodes. For instance, when Alvin's Hot Rod got a flat tire and Simon was left to change it alone in Let's make a Deal, or when Alvin stole the exact replica of the X class 247 he convenced his brother's to build then got it crushed by bus in Safety Third (This isn't my word for word plan for the final product of the pages but I think you get the idea). I'll look into how to create a test page to simulate the layout. The Munkmobile seems like an easy start so I'll do more research on that but for the time being we could try tossing around more ideas and information we know is true about these vehicles.
Good news. I discovered that Dave's "classic" car is a 1946-1950 Chrysler Town and Country convertible, or based on one at least. I'm not sure if that's been confirmed by any official sources or what the exact year model it is.
How about this for the introduction to a page on the Munk Mobile:
The Munk Mobile is a vehicle featured in the ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks CGI series invented by Simon Seville. It's able to seat two chipmunks, a pilot and a passenger, as well as store items in the back compartment. It can either drive on land, or its wheels can shift upward and become turbines like that of a VTOL aircraft.
DEmersonJMFM wrote: Can it drive on land? I don't remember seeing that in an episode (nor it storing items - perhaps it's something I overlooked). What next?
Its been a while since i've seen Munk Man but it did have a trunk where Simon was storing a grappling hook. On the roof of the superhero toy convention building, he opened the trunk to get it. I'm pretty sure it was seen driving on the road near the end of the episode when they were going after the guy with the stolen toy designs. Every episode its been in after has had it flying only.
As for what's next, I'm still thinking about how to word each of the segments for the episodes it appears in but I know thus far its been in Munk Man, Super Girls, The Temp, and Snake Charmer in that order.
Also one more thing I found out about Dave's car(s), in the 2007 movie (according to IMDB) his red sports car is a 60's Triumph TR4 from Britain.
Okay. I'm looking for a structure (and some length). This project honestly can't go anyway without one. What needs to go on each page (consistency)? Will there be an infobox? What goes in it (first appearance, etc)? You mentioned constructing them similar to Simon's Hidden Areas. I don't think that format will lay out as nice on vehicles though (not enough information to list by episode). Perhaps more like one of the character pages, in which episodes are used as citations of basic facts.
Beside that would be the info box with the picture and information below that.
Next section would be Description
The Munkmobile is a blue multi-terrain vehicle able to seat a Chipmunk-sized operator and passenger. Although mostly used in its flight mode as a means to travel long distances quickly, its four turbines can shift down and become wheels for driving on land. Simon initially created The Munkmobile for a toy design contest at a superhero convention but later realized it was all a set up by the manufacturer to steal the prototype designs. It can normally be found parked in Simon's basement lab and takes off flying verically from underneath a sliding tree hatch. Simon is not one to allow Alvin to take The Munkmobile out for a joyride by himself, even faking an arm injury to do so.
after that would be Appearences
(list of episodes The Munkmobile appears in)
. The Munkmobile's ability to transition between forward filght and hovering using movable turbines is very similar to a VTOL aircraft.
I haven't forgotten about this. I'm going to go ahead and whip up an infobox.
Edit: Got the infobox done. It currently supports an image, make, model, owner, and appearance(s) (series and films, not individuals episodes). I may make a tabber for multiple images when there's multiple versions.
Edit Edit: After a round of musical brackets, I got the template to support one image (outside of a tabber), two images (in a tabber), or three images (in a tabber).
If it can only hold 3 images that might be a problem. Now that I remember Dave's has at least 5 cars.
The Chrysler Town and Country both in the 80's series and ALVINNN, The red convertible where the Chipmunks were watching "Batmunk" (It looks like a Ford Mustang), the red Triumph TR4 and the black Ford Mustang in the live action films.
I think the red one in "Batmunk" would be worth adding because it was used for the purpose of being modeled into the Batcar and for watching the movie. Dave also says at the end of the episode "What happened to my car!?".
I haven't tried a version with more than three images (for one it would complicate the code that much more and the tabber may not look good, also considering the tab text). I can look into expanding it later, but it may be a good idea to just have the three most seen versions in the infobox with another gallery section for more minor appearances (there's also Dave's car from The Alvin Show).
There can be more than three images (especially since I've reworked a number of infoboxes). How many is going to depend on how long the text for the tabs is, so three still may be optimal and the other versions can illustrate the article.
If you're ready we can create The Munkmobile as a test run and go from there.
I made a mistake. We may have rewrite some of the Munkmobile description. I rewatched Munk Man and it wasn't actually seen driving but the way the 4 turbines shifted down made it seem like it could. My bad.
