The Chipmunks Go to the Movies features The Chipmunks and David Seville covering songs from various films. This is the final studio album by Alvin, Simon, and Theodore with David Seville, released three years prior to the death of Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. Eleven years would pass until the next Chipmunk album, Chipmunk Punk, was released by Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. (The Very Best of The Chipmunks is released six years later but contained re-released tracks produced by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr.) The Chipmunks Go To The Movies was released on cassette in 1987 (with an alternate track listing), CD in 2008 by Capitol Records, and digitally in 2008.
