This article, Fanfiction/The Chipmunks and the Land Before Time (series), falls under the category of fan-fiction, meaning it is not canon, but it still relates to Munkapedia.

The Chipmunks and the Land Before Time is a fanfic series that focuses on the Chipmunks and the Chipettes and the characters of the Land Before Time series. Although certain aspects have been altered, including the dinosaur characters themselves, the fanfics remain loyal to some of their characteristics. This series was written by Jake.

[edit] Differences between the LBT series and The Chipmunks and the Land Before Time

One of the major differences is that instead of going back in time, the Chipmunks and Chipettes actually are drawn to another world, where dinosaurs still rule the Earth. This is because during the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event, the asteroid that hit the Earth 65 million years ago, it caused Earth to split into two separate dimensions.

Another major difference between this and the LBT series is that Littlefoot and Ali are part of the same herd and when they grow older, they fall in love and have a child named Aladar.

The story starts with the Chipmunks and the Chipettes on a school trip to New York City to the Museum of Natural History, to see it's famous dinosaur exhibit. At lunch, the Chipmunks and Chipettes fall asleep and find themselves in a prehistoric jungle.

They soon meet up with an Apatosaurus herd bound for the Great Valley, where they meet Littlefoot and Ali, and later on meet a Triceratops named Cera. The Chipmunks and Chipettes learn about the Great Valley from the matriarch of the herd, the Old One, and learn of a great threat in their world that comes in the form of an evil tyrannosaur named Red Claw.

Early next morning, the children come face to face with Red Claw, and his two Velociraptor minions, Screech & Thud. The Old One comes to the rescue, but is severly injured by Red Claw, only to be stopped by Littlefoot's father, Bron. Soon an earthquake occurs and cuts the children and the Old One off from the rest of the herd, and Red Claw and his Raptors fall into the canyon.

Due to being bitten in the spine by Red Claw, the Old One dies, leaving the Chipmunks, the Chipettes, Littlefoot and Ali on their own. After a grumpy Cera says to them that she doesn't have a mother, they wonder why she was so mean to them and why she would lie about that when they saw her with a mother, a father and a little sibling.

The group soons runs into a Parasaurolophus named Ducky and her step-brother, a Stegosaurus named Spike, and later a Pteranodon named Petrie, who have been separated from their families due to the earthquake and join the group in their journey to the Great Valley.

Meanwhile, Cera, who had fallen into the canyon, discovers that Red Claw and his Raptors are still alive, and runs into the group, who were just joined by a planting Tyrannosaurus named Chomper and his step-sister, an Oviraptor named Ruby. Cera, of course, tries to leave afterwards, but is stopped by an enraged Theodore who snaps her out of her anger.

Cera reveals that when her birth mother died, she didn't want anyone to take her place, and she never gave her step-mom, Tria, a chance to be her friend, and wasn't a very good sister to her half-sister, Tricia. Littlefoot, Ali, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes explain to Cera that loosing a family member is part of life, but they were happy with the way their lifes were. After deciding she doesn't have to be mad anymore, Cera joins the group in their journey to the Great Valley.

After spending a night in a "snug" hole, which was later revealed to be a tyrannosaurus footprint, they are attacked by an enraged Red Claw and his Raptors, but soon manage to evade the predators. After saving Jeanette from a tarpit, due to lack of rest and fear, Alvin and Brittany get into a fight, but manage to snap themselves out of it to get away from Red Claw and his Raptors as they gave chase.

As they try to hide in some bushes, the children are surprised to see Petrie's mother, who along with other plant-eating dinosaurs, including Littlefoot and Ali's herd, Cera's family, and Ducky's family, was sent to see if they could find their kids. With teamwork from the adults and the children, they manage to outsmart Screech & Thud and defeat them and Red Claw, who retreat back into the Mysterious Beyond.

After Littlefoot and his family adopt Chomper and Ruby as part of the family, an elderly Pachyrhinosaurus explains to the Chipmunks and Chipettes that they are in an alternate world other than their own, where dinosaurs did not go extinct and still rule, and they did not go back in time. Eventually, they all find the Great Valley, but the Chipmunks and Chipettes feel homesick and wish to return home, and they do.

But when they do return home to Earth, they find that time in the Dinosaur World is different then that on Earth, and eventually decide to keep it their little secret.

Following the adventures they had in the first fic, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes have decided to keep their adventure in the Dinosaur World a secret from everyone. Aside from playing in the Sevilles' backyard, they kept themselves busy looking up more stuff on dinosaurs, even ones they hadn't seen on their adventure. However, during the last few weeks, the Chipmunks and Chipettes have been hearing voices saying "Help us! Help us!".

During Christmas time, however, a giant landmass appears in the sky above the Earth, causing panic and confusion on Earth, and even dinosaurs started appearing. The Chipmunks and Chipettes soon discover that the landmass in the sky is actually the Dinosaur World and they decide to return to see if they could try and help. With their parents' blessings, they return to the Dinosaur World via a portal.

Meanwhile, in the Mysterious Beyond, due to the influence of gas seeping from a blue meteorite, many predatory dinosaurs started becoming more dangerous, and turning Red Claw into a vengeful monster and started gathering allies. As the Chipmunks and Chipettes return to the Dinosaur World, they started hearing the voices saying "Help us! Help us!" again and decide to return to the Great Valley.

Upon their return to the Great Valley, the Chipmunks and Chipettes find their friends Littlefoot, Ali, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, Chomper and Ruby all grown up, and Littlefoot and Ali are to become parents soon. They tell their friends from Earth about the predatory dinosaurs becoming more vile and dangerous due to the influence of a blue meteorite out in the Mysterious Beyond.

They are soon attacked by a pack of Troodons who were sent by Red Claw, only to be saved by the goddess of Saurus Rock, Dulcea, who brings them all to Saurus Rock and explains that the Chipmunks and Chipettes have what it takes to become the chosen defenders of both worlds from Diamond Ryugu's evil, as the Power Rangers. After Dulcea grants them their powers and Ali finally lays her egg, which they leave in Dulcea's care, the reunited friends decide to head out into the Mysterious Beyond to put an end to Red Claw and Diamond Ryugu once and for all.

While Littlefoot and his friends deal with Red Claw and his little army of carnivorious dinosaurs, the Chipmunks and Chipettes once again deal with the Troodons before calling on the Dino Knights to deal with Gigano Dragon, the Drago Clones and the Dragozaur Army Forces, and go off against Diamond Ryugu herself.

While his friends battle Screech & Thud and the other predatory dinosaurs, Littlefoot gains a scar while battling Red Claw, but manages to defeat him by knocking him off a cliff into the sea while a large Deinosuchus has him for a snack. With her Dragozaurs defeated, the Dino Knights come to assist the Chipmunks and Chipettes against Diamond Ryugu. With his determination greater than his brothers and the Chipettes, Alvin calls on the power of the Dinosaur World's god, Dino Ramph, and the powers of his friends, to finally destroy Diamond Ryugu and restore both worlds to the way they were before.

As they return to Saurus Rock, the Chipmunks and Chipettes learn that they have used up all their power defeating Diamond Ryugu and won't be able to become Power Rangers, but are glad they were able to help anyway, and soon Ali's egg hatches. Littlefoot and Ali decide to name their baby Aladar as they return to the Great Valley.

Soon, it's time for the Chipmunks and Chipettes to return home, but promise to always be friends, as they return just in time to help their families on Earth celebrate Christmas. Next summer, Alvin and Brittany have a rock-skipping game when they see images of their dinosaur friends in the lake and hope to see them again someday.

  • Alvin Seville: The talented troublemaking leader of the Chipmunks, Alvin is the middle brother. He is the first to wonder what it would be like to actually see dinosaurs, and is the first to want an adventure. His love/hate relationship with Brittany reaches its peak in Chapter 13 of the first fanfic where they get into a fist fight. In the second fanfic, Alvin gains the power of the Tyrannosaurus, becoming the Red Ranger, Warrior of Courage, wielding a laser sword similar to the lightsabers wielded by the Jedi in the Star Wars saga. His detemination to save both Earth and the Dinosaur World is revealed to be stronger than the others' as he was able to call upon Dino Ramph's powers to finally destroy Diamond Ryugu. Alvin is one of two who used the Dino Daggers to summon the Dino Knights back to the Dinosaur World.
  • Simon Seville: The eldest of the Chipmunks with an IQ just north of Einstein. He knows almost all about the creatures they encounter in the Dinosaur World. In the second fanfic, Simon gains the power of the Woolly Mammoth, becoming the Blue Ranger, Warrior of Knowledge, wielding a quarterstaff.
  • Theodore Seville: The youngest and chubbiest, despite usually being the cute innocent butterball of the group, he gives Cera a piece of his mind in Chapter 10 of the first fanfic. In the second fanfic, Theodore gains the power of the Triceratops, becoming the Green Ranger, Warrior of Hope, wielding two sai daggers.
  • Brittany Miller: The middle sister, Brittany is the pretty drama queen of the group. Her love/hate relationship with Alvin reaches its peak in Chapter 13 of the first fanfic where they get into a fist fight, mostly due to being tired and scared of Red Claw attacking. In the second fanfic, Brittany gains the power of the Brachiosaurus, becoming the Pink Ranger, Warrior of Love, wielding a katana sword. Brittany is one of two who used the Dino Daggers to summon the Dino Knights back to the Dinosaur World.
  • Jeanette Miller: The eldest sister, Jeanette has a similar high IQ as Simon, and is the sweet klutz of the group. In Chapter 13 of the first fanfic, Jeanette has the misfortune of getting stuck in a tarpit, and having the others try and succeed in pulling her out. In the second fanfic, Jeanette gains the power of the Pteranodon, becoming the Violet Ranger, Warrior of Kindness, wielding a spear.
  • Eleanor Miller: Despite being the youngest and chubbiest like Theodore, Eleanor is the strong-minded, caring one of the group. In the second fanfic, Eleanor gains the power of the Smilodon/Sabertoothed Tiger, becoming the Jade Ranger, Warrior of Light, wielding a crossbow.
  • Littlefoot the Apatosaurus: Leader of the dinosaur kids. Has greater leadership skills than Alvin, due to having passed tests of leadership prior to the story. As a grown-up, he fulls in love with Ali and has a son named Aladar. Gains a scar in the second fanfic in his battle with Red Claw.
  • Ali the Apatosaurus: Littlefoot's love interest, who she bears a striking resemblance to, apart from her darker pink skin color and light blue eyes. She and Littlefoot eventually have a child of their own.
  • Cera the Triceratops: Cera is very sweet and caring, but that side of her personality is usually masked by her normally gruff exterior. At first, she wanted nothing to do with her stepmother or her half-sister, until Theodore and the others snap her out of her anger.
  • Ducky the Parasaurolophus: A little dinosaur who rarely speaks in contractions (until she is older), Ducky has a very sweet, innocent personality, and love her friends, especially her adopted brother, Spike.
  • Petrie the Pteranodon: Petrie is talkative, but (uniquely to himself) speaks in a form of broken English (until he is older), and is much more timid than the others, which usually leads to the others having to coax him into doing something.
  • Spike the Stegosaurus: Spike rarely speaks, though he does vocalize in some songs. Spike also has a big appetite, constantly eating plants that are in his sight. He does care for his friends, however.
  • Chomper the Tyrannosaurus: Youngest of the dinosaur kids. Littlefoot and his dad adopt Chomper near the end of the first story, making Chomper Littlefoot's step-brother, whom he looks up to as a big brother anyway. Unlike the way he is portrayed as a meat-eater in the Land Before Time series, Chomper is portrayed as a leaf-eating Tyrannosaurus, thanks to Ruby who taught him not to eat meat.
  • Ruby the Oviraptor: Adopts Chomper as her step-brother prior to the story, and later on is adopted by Littlefoot as his step-sister. Ruby is often the voice of wisdom among the young dinosaurs, able to explain matters to the others do not understand. She has a calm demeanor and shows kindness and empathy to others. A strange habit of hers is to sometimes immediately repeat herself in a "backwards" way. For instance, she might say as a greeting: "Hello my friends; my friends hello!". It is Ruby who taught Chomper to like eating plants and not to eat meat prior to the first story.
  • Dino Knights: Creations of Dino Ramph, the true Guardians of the Dinosaur World. Though fossilized on Earth, they later assumed their true metallic forms when re-animated. The saying Alvin and Brittany used to power up the Dino Knights with their Dino Daggers was "Dino Power, Energize!".
    • Dino Tyranno: Leader of the Dino Knights, he wields Dino Pachy and Dino Arch in their weapon forms. His dinosaur form is a Tyrannosaurus.
    • Dino Brachio: Second-in-command, Dino Brachio is the biggest, oldest and wisest of the Dino Knights. Armed with Dino Kenty in his weapon form. His dinosaur form is a Brachiosaurus.
    • Dino Stego: Tough guy of the Dino Knights, he attacks with the Stego Skeletal Revolution where his chest rotates spinning any enemy around and around. His dinosaur form is a Stegosaurus.
    • Dino Sabre: One of a few Dino Knights whose form is not a dinosaur. He's the youngest of the Dino Knights, and whields the Sabre Wailing Whip. His dinosaur form is a Smilodon/Sabertoothed Tiger.
    • Dino Ptera: Only female Dino Knight, she attacks with the Ptera Bristle Boomerang. Her dinosaur form is a Pteranodon.
    • Dino Tricera: Wields the Tricera Spears of Jade, and like Stego, his favorite pastime is fighting the Dragozaurs. His dinosaur form is a Triceratops.
    • Dino Mammoth: Very sane, competent member of the Dino Knights. May not be the fastest of the Dino Knights, but he's a formidable adversary nonetheless, who wields the Mammoth Tusks of Vigor. His dinosaur form is a Woolly Mammoth.
    • Dino Weapons: The Dino Weapons are smaller Dino Knights that can become weapons outside of their dinosaur forms and attach to any Dino Knight.
      • Dino Pachy: Dinosaur form is a Pachycephalosaurus, and he can form a sword used by Tyranno.
      • Dino Arch: Dinosaur form is an Archelon, and he can form a shield used by Tyranno.
      • Dino Kenty: Stego's cousin, Kenty's dinosaur form is a Kentrosaurus, and he can form a drill used by Brachio.
  • Lilly the Rossini Puppy: The Chipmunks' puppy will make an apperance in the third fanfic.
  • The Dragon: A character based on the title character of The Railway Dragon and its sequel The Birthday Dragon, whilst his appearance is based on the Prehistoric Dragon that appears in Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real. Will make an appearance in the third fanfic.

  • Dave Seville: The Chipmunks' adoptive father, song writer and manager, Dave's patience is tested nearly everyday by Alvin, usually to the point where he yells "ALVIN!!!". He only appears in the second fanfic, and is more than willing to let his boys and the Chipettes return to the Dinosaur World to help save both worlds.
  • Miss Miller: The kindly, absent-minded adoptive mother of the Chipettes, who in her youth, she was part of an all-girl singing group called "Miss Miller and the Thrillers". She only appears in the second fanfic.
  • Vinny: The Chipmunks' biological mother who comes to visit during the time the Dinosaur World appears in the sky above the Earth during Christmas time. Will have a role in the third fanfic.
  • Dino Ramph: The god and creator of the Dinosaur World. He is very wise and almost all-knowing.
  • Old One: Former leader and matriarch of the Apatosaurus herd, she is regarded by her herd as the wisest. Dies in the first book in her battle against Red Claw.
  • Bron: Littlefoot's father who takes over leadership of the Apatosaurus following the Old One's death.
  • Ali's Mother: A caring motherly figure.
  • Topsy: Cera's grumpy father, who growls at Alvin and Brittany to back off when they first met.
  • Tria: Cera's step-mother. She is kind, loving and brave. At first, Cera wants nothing to do with her, but after Theodore snaps her out of it, Cera makes amends with Tria when they find their folks.
  • Tricia: Cera's younger half-sister.
  • Ducky and Spike's Mother: She is blind to race/species, as seen in her inter-racial/species adoption of Spike, a Stegosaurus, but she loves all her children and is very attentive.
  • Petrie's Mother: Petrie's mother has a big heart toward all the young ones and is protective of her children.
  • Ruby's Family: Not seen, but mentioned. They adopted Chomper when he was little, but were all killed by Red Claw and his raptors.
  • Pachyrhinosaurus: An elderly Pachyrhinosaurus who explains to the Chipmunks and Chipettes about the Great Unknown being an alternate dimension.
  • Dulcea: Goddess of Saurus Rock, who gives the Chipmunks and the Chipettes the power to become Power Rangers. Dulcea also helps look after Ali's egg while they go off to fight against Red Claw and Diamond Ryugu.

  • Red Claw: The main villain of the first fanfic and one of the two main villains in the second fanfic. Red Claw is the biggest and the most evil of all tyrannosaurs in the Dinosaur World. It is he who kills Ruby's Family prior to the story and the Old One. In the second fanfic, he is turned into a Vastatosaurus Rex thanks to Diamond Ryugu's blue meteorite, causing him to plan vengeance for his defeat near the end of the first fanfic. Dies when Littlefoot knocks him off the cliff, down into the sea, where he is eaten by a large Deinosuchus.
    • Screech & Thud: Red Claw's two Velociraptor minions, and his usual heralds which normally mean Red Claw is coming. Die after Ruby causes them to fall into quicksand.
    • Other Carnivorious Dinosaurs: Meat-eating dinosaurs who ally themselves with Red Claw in the second fanfic.
      • Troodons: Function as grunts.
      • Albertosaurus: Fights against Chomper.
      • Allosaurus: Fights against Ducky and Petrie.
      • Giganotosaurus: Fights against Cera and Spike.
      • Spinosaurus: Fights against Ali.
  • Dragozaurs: The main enemies in the second fanfic, an alien race who tried to conquer the Dinosaur World prior to the story before being sealed in a blue meteorite by the Dino Knights.
    • Diamond Ryugu: Leader of the Dragozaurs, she is a very large Ankylosaurus, whose warrior form comes out of the Ankylosaur's back. Killed by an aura-powered Alvin.
    • Gigano Dragon: Dino Tyranno's rival, he has the weirdest transformation since his form is a Chinese dragon and is a vicious fighter. Finally killed by Tyranno in their final battle.
    • Drago Clones: Created by Diamond Ryugu prior to the story, these clones of the Dino Knights were just as powerful as their Dino-counterparts. Each are killed by their Dino-counterparts in their final battle.
      • Drago Ceratops: Dark version of Dino Tricera.
      • Drago Stegus: Dark version of Dino Stego.
      • Drago Dactylus: Dark version of Dino Ptera.
      • Drago Brachio: Dark version of Dino Brachio.
      • Drago Elephas: Dark version of Dino Mammoth.
      • Drago Tigra: Dark version of Dino Sabre.
    • Dragozaur Army Forces: All Dragozaur soldiers have the form of an Allosaurus and cannot transform into their warrior forms like the others.
